Welcoming Debbie Price: New Autauga County Board Member

Debbie Price’s journey with Mid-South RC&D began in 2022 when lifelong friend Paula Adams invited her to join a council meeting. Fresh from retirement and eager to serve her community, she found the perfect fit. Paula knew Debbie’s strengths well from years of friendship and recognized that RC&D would benefit from Debbie’s dedication and experience. Soon after, Debbie was appointed by the Autauga County Commission to the Mid-South RC&D Autauga County Committee, filling the county’s only vacant RC&D seat.

Since then, Debbie has been committed to strengthening the quality of life and economic development in Autauga County. When asked about her favorite part of RC&D, she was happy to discuss the organization’s impact.

“I absolutely love and appreciate that we can help so many worthy causes at the local level,” Debbie said. “I am so blessed to be part of a wonderful group of people who desire for others to prosper.”

Now, with Paula’s recommendation and the support of her fellow Autauga County committee members, Debbie is stepping into a new role as Autauga County Board Member. The transition is bittersweet but inspiring for her. “I was and continue to be humbled by this opportunity,” she shared. “Paula is a hard act to follow. She embodies selflessness by giving back to her community in any way that she can. I hope to do justice to her past accomplishments. I am proud to be a small part of her legacy.”

A Lifetime of Service

Debbie brings a wealth of community experience to the Board. As a former teacher, she invested countless hours supporting students through ball fields, Jr. Beta Club, Robotics, FFA competitions, and club meetings. She remains active in community outreach through her local church. Each experience has connected her with many different members of the Autauga County community, and many of those connections continue to this day. Her service extends beyond the classroom, too, having also served on the Billingsley Town Council and multiple boards throughout her career. Even in retirement, Debbie maintains commitments to three boards, one of which is with the newly founded Autaugaville Christian Academy.

“Each commitment I’ve made through the years has given me perspective on how to work toward a common goal with people from different backgrounds,” Debbie said. “One thing I find fascinating is how much can be accomplished when the desire is to succeed.”

Looking Ahead

Debbie recognizes that staying active and connected is essential to being a great Board member. “To be a true resource to others, you have to be active in your county to be knowledgeable about different communities’ needs and wants,” she said.

Her teaching background uniquely positions her to support potential grantees. “Communication is a strength of mine. Teachers offer feedback freely because we care that the learner understands the material,” she said. “I feel like this will help me explain that projects need to have sustainability and relevance to community needs when speaking to prospective grantees.”

Goal-oriented and efficient, Debbie also appreciates how the Mid-South RC&D Board conducts business. “Everyone is here to have a positive impact through community and economic development, along with educational outreach,” she said. “It’s a true joy to help people reach their goals.”

With her leadership approach, community roots, and commitment to collaboration, Debbie Price is ready to help communities continue to thrive. Mid-South RC&D is happy to have her as a Board Member and looks forward to continuing to make Alabama a better place to live, work, and play.
