OUR MISSION

'FILLING
THE GAP'
SINCE 1993

IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE.

ENHANCING REGIONAL RESOURCES.

DEVELOPING OUR COMMUNITIES.

The mid-south rc&d Story

The Mid-South RC&D Council is one of many uniquely limitless nonprofit organizations serving Alabama. We’ve offered grant funding to communities in our region since 1993 for improvement projects that meet needs; from life-saving equipment to educational training, or tourism projects, RC&D is unlimited because we operate with a vision and distinctively address unmet community needs. The heart of our mission has stood the test of time, overcoming obstacles to fill the gaps in our region.

“There is no limit with RC&D. We are led by our vision and distinctively address unmet community needs.”

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

Due to the 2008 economic collapse and following years of financial hardship, the RC&D Program was defunded by the federal government in 2011. It was total devastation to the RC&D family; many lost their jobs but continued to live out our mission and work to enhance communities. Volunteers from across the state worked to bring partners together to continue to carry out projects and provide support to local communities.

Thankfully, previous partnerships with the state legislature made an impression on the impact of RC&D in Alabama, including the Mid-South Council. We were able to carry out even more projects with their support, resulting in incredible added community value. Today, the Alabama RC&D Program celebrates a 25-year partnership with the state legislature.

Mid-South RC&D Council is proud to serve our region through our mission and priorities. We are honored to work within a region that is filled with rich history, unique ecosystems, and economic opportunity.

In FY 2022, we proudly carried out 50 projects within our region that improve our quality of life and economic well-being, while addressing unmet community needs by enhancing human and natural resources.
